Vote NO on Traverse City Proposals 1 & 2 Campaign in Full Swing; Cornhole Tournament to Support RPAC on October 11th; Traverse City Planning Commission Renews Their Short-Term Rental Discussions

The campaign on Traverse City Proposals 1 & 2 is in full swing. Learn more about how Traverse City Proposals 1 & 2—if passed by voters—will change the use of the TIF tool and how we govern in Traverse City. The Traverse City Planning Commission will consider reviewing current short-term rental regulations on Tuesday, September 17th.

1. Vote NO on Traverse City Proposals 1 & 2 Campaign in Full Swing

If you are a Traverse City resident/voter you may have seen a mailer hit your inbox as of this past Thursday, September 12th regarding Voting NO on City Proposals 1 & 2. The Traverse Together campaign to educate Traverse City voters on why they should vote NO on City Proposals 1 & 2 is now in full swing. Aspire North REALTORS is involved in this campaign as a result of the Aspire North REALTORS Board of Directors voting to oppose Traverse City Proposal 1 at their June 28th meeting. Aspire North REALTORS will host an education event this coming Friday, Sept. 20th, from 2 pm to 3:30 pm at the Aspire North REALTORS Office with experts who use Tax Increment Financing (TIF) daily. They will discuss how Traverse City Proposals 1 & 2, if passed by voters, will change the use of the TIF tool and how we govern in Traverse City. 

This event is primarily focused toward Traverse City voters, however, interested Traverse City business owners and Aspire North REALTORS members are welcome to attend to learn more about Traverse City Proposals 1 & 2 which will be on the Traverse City ballot this November. 2. Cornhole Tournament to Support RPAC on October 11th

The Aspire North REALTORS RPAC Committee has just launched a Cornhole Tournament to Support RPAC, which will be held on Friday, October 11th in the brand new Aspire North REALTORS parking lot from noon to 6 pm! This event will be a double-elimination cornhole tournament providing all registered attendees with their choice of a burger, hot dog, or veggie burger and chips, as well as, two beverage tickets for your choice of beer, wine, and soft drinks. Registration is $40 per team, or $20 for an individual and we’ll match you up with a teammate. Don’t want to play, but want to enjoy the event and support RPAC? You are welcome to register as an individual and we’ll have your burger/hot dog and beverages waiting for you to enjoy! 3. Traverse City Planning Commission Renews Their Short-Term Rental Discussions

This Tuesday, September 17th at 6 pm at the Governmental Center (400 Boardman Ave., Traverse City) the Traverse City Planning Commission will renew their discussion of reviewing the current Short Term Rentals (STR) regulations in Traverse City. Originally Traverse City had begun talks in late March of this year to establish a subcommittee with at-large members from the Traverse City community to participate in this review. The Traverse City Planning Commission staff now recommends bringing this STR discussion to the entire Planning Commission without establishing this STR subcommittee. To voice your perspective on this issue, the Traverse City Planning Commission session this Tuesday, Sept. 17th at 6 pm in the Governmental Center (400 Boardman Ave., Traverse City).
