In this week’s GAD Top 3, we have a lot of pending events and activities to update you on after a two-week hiatus. First, don’t forget to register by tomorrow, Tuesday, August 26th for the Michigan REALTORS® Capitol Day on Thursday, September 4th, which will be held at the Michigan State Capitol in Lansing. Second, next week, Aspire North REALTORS® will conduct a candidate interview process to consider all City of Traverse City Mayoral and City Commission candidates. Last, a teaser for a soon to launch RPAC “Flocking” Program!
1. Register for REALTOR® Capitol Day on Thurs. Sept 4th
Register by TOMORROW, Tuesday, August 26th for the Michigan REALTORS® Capitol Day held at the Michigan State Capitol in Lansing on Thursday, September 4th. This unique opportunity provides members the chance to meet with state legislators to discuss key issues affecting the real estate industry.
Thanks to Michigan REALTORS® and Aspire North REALTORS® all expenses have been covered, including a bus for transportation, breakfast, lunch (and snacks) for all attendees! Meet us at the Aspire North REALTORS®® office by 7:00 am, hop on the bus, and grab some breakfast while we travel to Lansing for meetings with state legislators starting at 10:30 am through 1:00 pm. Lunch will be served on the Lansing Capitol Lawn from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, with an optional tour of the Capitol offered at 1:00 pm. We will then load the bus and head back to Traverse City with an expected arrival time of 5:30 pm.

2. Aspire North REALTORS® Conducts Candidate Interviews for City of Traverse City Mayoral and City Commission Races
This coming week, a panel of Aspire North REALTORS® members will be interviewing the City of Traverse City Mayoral and City Commission candidates for potential support and/or endorsement in this year’s November election. All candidates who filed to run by the July 22nd candidate filing deadline (as listed in July 31st, 2025 GAD Top 3) will be considered by the Aspire North REALTORS® Candidate Interview Panel for support and/or endorsement. The Aspire North REALTORS® Candidate Interview Panel is made up of one representative from the Aspire North REALTORS® Public Policy and RPAC Committee as well as three Aspire North REALTORS® members who are all registered to vote in the City of Traverse City and are investors in RPAC.
Recommendations for candidate support and/or endorsement will be made by this Aspire North REALTORS® Candidate Interview Panel to the Aspire North REALTORS® Board of Directors for approval. If financial support is recommended for any candidates, a request will be made to the Michigan REALTORS® RPAC Board of Trustees for approval of financial support. If financial support is approved by the Michigan REALTORS® RPAC Board of Trustees then RPAC funds will be provided to approved candidates. 3. RPAC Flamingo “Flocking” Program is Coming!
Aspire North REALTORS® Golf Outing participants may have noticed some flamingos set up near the tee box for the RPAC Closest to the Pin hole. Well, the RPAC Committee is closing in on the launch of an RPAC Flamingo “Flocking” Program. This program will be launched as a fun fundraiser to gently nudge Aspire North REALTORS® members to invest in RPAC or to consider increasing their current investment level. Before the RPAC “Flocking” Program launches, here is some important information for you to know:
- For an RPAC Investment, Aspire North REALTORS® RPAC Committee members and staff will place a “flock” (25 flamingos) of RPAC flamingos at the home or brokerage of someone whom you designate to be “flocked.”
- To submit a flocking request, Aspire North REALTORS® will make an investment through an event link and select a primary and secondary Aspire North REALTORS® member they would like to flock.
- If you wish not to be eligible to flocked, there is an annual “Flock Block” option that can be obtained for a set RPAC Investment amount.
- RPAC “Flocking” Program Investment Types
- $30 to flock an agent or affiliate’s home
- $100 to flock a brokerage office
- $250 to flock block for the calendar year
- Flocks will be placed on a first-come, first-served basis, and a flock of flamingos will placed for 48 hours, unless otherwise requested for removal.
- Homes that are flocked will be notified after being flocked by email and with a “flocking” sign with access to the event link to “Flock Back,” “Flock Forward,” or “Flock Block” to prevent future “flockings.”
Additional information on the RPAC “Flocking’ Program will be available as we get closer to the program launch date. Be ready for a flock of RPAC flamingos coming to your neighborhood soon!
