What a Federal Government Shutdown Means for Members; Recap of Aspire North REALTORS® National Voter Registration Day Efforts; New Pro-Property Platform Launched to Directly Support Pro-REALTOR, Pro-Property Rights Candidates

With a potential government shutdown looming on Monday, September 30th, the National Association of REALTORS® has summarized how this could impact members. Next, we quickly recap Aspire North's efforts on National Voter Registration Day this past Tuesday, Sept. 17th. Make sure your voice is heard this November! And last, we'll look at the new Pro-Property Platform, which—in addition to RPAC—directly supports pro-REALTOR and pro-property rights candidates.

1. What a Federal Government Shutdown Means for Members

As of this writing, the US Congress has not yet agreed to a Continuing Resolution to prevent a government shutdown on September 30th. This would result in a partial shutdown of some government operations including some federal housing, mortgage, and other programs of interest to the real estate industry. The National Association of REALTORS has put together a summary of the impacts a potential partial shutdown would have on NAR members and their businesses. You can view the summary of impacts here or a more detailed breakdown on this webpage.

2. Recap of Aspire North REALTORS National Voter Registration Day Efforts

This past Tuesday, September 17th was the celebration of National Voter Registration Day in America. Some of you may have received an email from us, Aspire North REALTORS, reminding you to register to vote or that you may have an out-of-date voter registration address. Aspire North REALTORS, since 2016, has participated in National Voter Registration Day each year inviting our members to register to vote ensuring the REALTOR® voice is heard loud and clear each election cycle. Thanks in part to these efforts each year, 97.9% of REALTOR members in Aspire North REALTORS are registered to vote! Thank YOU for registering to vote and making sure that real estate issues are well-represented and supported at the ballot box each year! If you have not yet registered to vote, or need to update your voter registration address visit mi.gov/vote.

3. New Pro-Property Platform Launched to Directly Support Pro-REALTOR, Pro-Property Rights Candidates

Pro-Property Platform is a new giving platform that enables individuals to contribute directly to pro-REALTOR®, pro-property rights congressional candidates and incumbents of their choice. The Platform is a new way for us to participate directly in building a pro-REALTOR® Congress.

Giving directly to our congressional champions through Pro-Property Platform labels our dollars as pro-REALTOR® and sends a powerful message about the strength of our industry.

  • This won’t replace RPAC, it isn’t a mini–President’s Circle – but it is a new tool that will amplify the impact of RPAC’s investments in candidates – delivering winning resources to campaigns.
  • There are no goals for state and local associations – RPAC’s Fundraising and Disbursement Trustees conceived of this program and we are relying on volunteer leaders to support and grow this program.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact the Platform team at info@propertyplatform.com.
