Aspire North REALTORS® is proud to announce that longtime member Doug Meteyer, Founder and Broker of Keller Williams in Traverse City, has been granted REALTOR® Emeritus status by the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR), honoring his remarkable 40-year commitment to the profession and exemplary service at every level of the REALTOR® organization.
This prestigious designation is reserved for REALTOR® members who achieve both:
-
40 cumulative years of membership in NAR as a REALTOR® or REALTOR-ASSOCIATE®, and
-
A minimum of one year of service at the national level, such as serving as a committee member, officer, director, or in another qualifying role.
Doug’s career of leadership and service reflects these standards and much more. At the local level, Doug served as Aspire North REALTORS® (Traverse Area Association of REALTORS®/TAAR) Board Treasurer and Director before becoming Board President in 1992, the same year he was named TAAR REALTOR® of the Year. He also received Aspire North’s Ed Petty Lifetime Achievement Award in 2021. He has served on numerous committees for the association, including Budget and Finance, MLS, Professional Standards, and RPAC, where he had chaired both the RPAC Committee and Professional Standards Committee.
At the state level, Doug served as Michigan REALTORS® Board Treasurer and Director before becoming Michigan REALTORS® President in 1998. At the national level, he served as a Director on the NAR Board from 1994 to 2001, meeting the national service requirement for Emeritus recognition.
With his designation, Doug now receives a permanent waiver of NAR dues and is exempt from future Code of Ethics and Fair Housing training obligations, as provided for by the Emeritus status.
