At Aspire North REALTORS®, we are fortunate to have dedicated leaders who bring experience, professionalism, and passion to our association. This month, we're pleased to spotlight Meagan Luce, Forms Committee Chair and one of the broker-owners of CENTURY 21 Northland.
A Career Built on Real Estate Investment and Leadership
Meagan's journey into real estate began long before she became a licensed REALTOR®. Prior to entering the profession, she spent approximately seven years as a real estate investor, owning both long-term and short-term rental properties while also flipping homes. Her hands-on experience in the industry provided a strong foundation when she earned her real estate license in 2009.
Since then, Meagan has built an impressive career in real estate, transitioning from agent to one of four non-selling broker owners at CENTURY 21 Northland in 2017. Her unique perspective as both an investor and brokerage owner allows her to bring valuable insight to every aspect of the industry.
Committed to Professionalism and Excellence
Meagan's involvement with the association dates back to the very beginning of her real estate career. Since joining in 2009, she has been an active participant, serving as a Reverse Mentor on the Board and earning recognition as Rookie of the Year.
Her decision to become involved in leadership stemmed from a desire to uphold and elevate the professionalism of the real estate industry.
"I was inspired by the level of professionalism in the industry and wanted to be instrumental in continuing to raise the bar," Meagan shares.
As Forms Committee Chair, she helps ensure that REALTORS® have access to the tools and resources they need to conduct business effectively while maintaining high professional standards.
A Passion for REALTOR® Advocacy
Among her many interests within organized real estate, Meagan is particularly passionate about REALTOR® Political Action Committee (RPAC) advocacy.
"Most agents don't understand that RPAC is critical to ensuring that our industry continues to provide opportunities for REALTORS® and protect private property rights," she explains.
She emphasizes that RPAC plays a vital role in protecting homeowners, property rights, and the real estate profession itself. Without strong advocacy efforts, REALTORS® and consumers alike could face increased taxes, higher closing costs, and fewer protections throughout the transaction process.
Industry Insights
With more than 15 years in real estate, Meagan has witnessed many market shifts. Today, she sees inventory levels gradually increasing while appreciation rates continue to stabilize after years of unprecedented growth.
"Inventory is continuing to slowly rise, appreciation is finally stabilizing and not climbing at record speeds, and some markets are seeing a leveling off with very little appreciation."
Her experience allows her to provide a balanced perspective on market conditions and long-term trends that benefit both REALTORS® and consumers.
Life Beyond Real Estate
When she's not working, Meagan enjoys spending time on the golf course, traveling, and visiting her adult children.
One fun fact many people may not know? Before her real estate career, Meagan lived in Los Angeles and appeared on several television shows during the 1990s, including Charmed, JAG, and Felicity.
As for her favorite Northern Michigan spot, her answer comes with a smile:
"Any golf course where the views are better than my score—which is pretty much anywhere!"
The Importance of Association Involvement
Meagan believes that professional associations play a critical role not only for REALTORS® but for the communities they serve.
"The association is important for the REALTOR® body and keeping ethics and professionalism at the forefront of our industry, which ultimately impacts the community in a positive manner."
Her advice to those new to the profession reflects that same commitment to excellence:
"Know your contracts, don't be a secret agent, and get involved in the association on some level. It will benefit your business in the long run."
Guided by Principles
Rather than drawing inspiration from any one individual, Meagan is motivated by the principles that define successful professionals.
"I'm inspired more by principles than people—professionalism, integrity, and doing things the right way. That's what guides how I make decisions and how my partners and I run our business."
Those values are evident in her leadership, her commitment to the profession, and her service to Aspire North REALTORS®.
