In this week’s GAD Top 3 Aspire North REALTORS and the National Association of REALTORS (NAR) establish their Advocacy Priorities for 2024 and we take a look back at NAR’s Policy Advocacy 2023 Wins.
1. Aspire North REALTORS Board of Directors Approves Advocacy Priorities for 2024
On Friday, January 26th, the Aspire North REALTORS® Board of Directors approved the Aspire North REALTORS® Public Policy Committee’s Association Advocacy Priorities recommendations for 2024. These priorities are as follows:
- Define and Incentivize Housing Attainability and Availability
- Reasonable Regulation of Short-Term Rentals
- Support the Creation of a Statewide Septic Code
- Support Infrastructure Development that Supports Housing Development
These Association Advocacy Priorities for 2024 were made based on the input from you, the Aspire North REALTORS® membership, provided in the Aspire North REALTORS® Advocacy survey. 2. NAR Legislative Priorities for 2024 and Talking Points
The National Association of REALTORS (NAR) has just recently released their Priority Issues and Talking Points on the NAR advocacy page. NAR’s Priority Issues and Talking Points have been updated from the Summer 2023 Legislative Priorities and Talking Points. In short, NAR’s Priority Issues are:
- Housing Affordability and Availability: Improve Access to Homeownership, Increase Housing Inventory, Streamline Affordable Housing Programs, and Expand Economic Opportunities
- Fair Housing: Ensure Fair Housing for All
- Research: Produce Research Products that Help Inform Policymaking

3. NAR Policy Advocacy 2023 Wins
NAR’s federal advocacy team worked tirelessly in 2023 to protect the real estate sector and make progress on several priorities. Although not an exhaustive list, check out the victories that REALTORS® can be proud of, including:
- Fighting regulation that would drive housing providers from the market
- Amplifying housing accessibility and affordability
- Incentives to increase housing supply
- Fair housing and homeownership opportunity
- Preserving homeownership, property rights, & wealth accumulation
- Shaping Congressional & Administrative Action
