Michigan REALTORS® has started a member and consumer Call for Action to support HB 4722 and SB 466. In short, these bills would define short-term rentals as residential use and protect short-term rentals from a ban through zoning. Local governments will still be able to regulate short-term rentals—outside of zoning—for the health and safety of renters and the peace of mind for the full-time residents. These bills had very good hearings in the House Committee on Commerce and Tourism and the Senate Committee on Regulatory Reform earlier this week. We anticipate both bills will be voted out of each committee to their respective chamber for consideration as early as next Tuesday, May 25th.
