It is our absolute pleasure to announce Karen Emerson with Northwest Community Action Agency (NMCAA) as our Affiliate of the Month for December 2021.
Karen A. K. Emerson is the Manager of the Homeownership and Financial Empowerment Center of Northwest Michigan Community Action Agency (NMCAA). She received her B.G.S. in Psychology, Sociology, and Business from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Since 2000, Karen planned, developed, and implemented homeownership and financial empowerment programming including facilitating NMCAA in becoming a NeighborWorks charter member. The Homeownership and Financial Empowerment Center programs include Budget Coaching, Housing Coaching, Rental Coaching, Foreclosure Prevention Coaching, Individual Development Account (IDA) or matched savings, Down Payment Assistance, and Tax Preparation. Ms. Emerson partners with many of the Aspire North members by offering volunteer opportunities for Realtors, Lenders, Inspectors, Title Companies, etc. to help educate NMCAA customers. NMCAA is also an excellent referral source for first-time homebuyers that need help with becoming mortgage-ready.
